Teaching is a passion. Passing on to others the skills and enjoyment of music is an invaluable exercise. Music opens so many doors, emotionally, intellectually and physically, whether it be in a potential career or as purely enjoyment and the friends you make playing with others.
Jennie has been teaching for many years here and in Europe. All ages and backgrounds are welcomed. No matter what your goals are Jennie works with her students to find how to get the best out of them, what motivates them and fosters their love of music.
Technique is the building blocks of anything we do. Without good technique from the outset the potential for growth and improvement is somewhat limited. But lessons aren't all about exercises and scales. There is always a good balance between working on all important technical studies and learning that favourite tune.
For younger students working towards a course of exams is usually recommended as it gives the year a good structure with regular goals, and this achievement spurs them on. These exams are also necessary if they decided at a later point to go further with their music.
For adults its up to the individual, it can in some cases be good to do some exams for the same reason as the younger ones, but with busy working lives it is often hard to fit in enough time to practice as much as you would like.
Music is there to be enjoyed, no matter what your age or goals. As long as there is a commitment to lessons and to regular practice, and a desire to learn and improve, Jennie provides a relaxed atmosphere through the learning process. Anyone can make music given some patience and putting the work in.
